Getting More from Your Espresso Machine
A number of people who own an espresso machine get discouraged and their machines end up gathering dust in the back of a cabinet, because they could not get the formula quite right. There are a few variables to tinker with, but it is nothing like a golf swing. Hopefully, after you read this article it will spark that enthusiasm you had when you first bought the machine.
First, to make good espresso, it takes passion. This passion is easy to develop after you start to see the pieces coming together. The excitement builds until you have finally perfected it. Then, you make every excuse to have friends over just to show them you can do it, and to show off all of the paraphernalia involved.
The concentration of coffee is key when making espresso. Most espresso failures are due to the fact that most people think that a larger helping of espresso can be made by forcing more water through the coffee, but this just makes the drink too weak. They say, most home brewed espresso is actually weaker than cafe Americana, which is espresso mixed with water.
Just remember, the standard espresso is only about 1½ ounces. That is why most people order a double. A double espresso is really two drinks in one cup. Not double strength. A double strength espresso is called a ristresto.
